In a press release from Penguin Publishers in London on 17th September 2008, an announcement was made that a sixth book in the enduringly popular Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Series will be written by popular children’s author Eoin Colfer. The novel will be titled And Another Thing... and will be published by Penguin Books in the UK and Hyperion in the US in October 2009.

In the year 2019, the world will teeter along the edge of a knife. Society runs down the blade of its own destruction. The apocalypse has happened, or has it? Off-world colonies will provide Earth her natural resources long consumed and leaving in their wake a fiery industrial wasteland of Hades. On these other planets, replicants (androids) fill roles deemed undesirable as soldiers, miners, and prostitutes. Replicants are forbidden on Earth by punishment of their deaths to be carried out by Blade Runner units who "retire" them for a bounty. Most would not make it that far even if they tried; they are designed to perish after four years.
